Thanksgiving went pretty well this year. It was just me and my boyfriend, we didn’t want to go anywhere since we already went on vacation earlier this month. Thanksgiving is pretty much the only day of the year that I look forward to cooking. I love making turkey and stuffing (from scratch!) and all my fav foods. So that was nice and all the food came out great. Well, not totally. We had some pie issues.

My boyfriend is always talking about having pecan pie. I despise pecans, so I’ve never made or even eaten pecan pie. (I say pecan like the northerners do - peecan - just because it always annoyed my mom and now my boyfriend who says it pecahn.) But I wanted to be nice, so I decided to use my mom’s old recipe (which I remember people raving about) and make him a pecan pie. But I guess I read the recipe wrong (it was handwritten) and the pie didn’t really turn out right. I think I put too much butter and as a result the pie never really set. It was pretty much goop with pecans in it. It looked pretty though.

Luckily, I had also made an apple pie for myself and that turned out really well. It kind of fell apart trying to get it out of the pan, but it tasted yummy, so that’s all that matters to me.

We also had the bad luck to have our air conditioner crap out on us sometime Thursday afternoon. This wouldn’t be a big deal if we lived anywhere but Florida, but it’s still hot here, so it made for a pretty bad night. As the emergency maintenance guy said on Friday:

When there’s humidity in the air it doesn’t matter what temperature it is, you’ll still feel hot and sweaty.

Like, thanks for stating the obvious Mr. Repair Man. But seriously, I shouldn’t make fun because thank god for the emergency maintenance guy who came right over on his day off. I would have died if we didn’t have A/C all weekend.

Anyway, time for some leftovers. We’ll only be eating them for the next three weeks.
